A cat as your best friend, is that possible

Pet in FocusThough the rugged roads I have crossed in my life, one animal has always comforted me, and for that I thank her. My cat, SCSI, proved even more special when I taught her some amazing tricks. Here is a little proof that a cat will go a long way to make sure its owner is filled with happiness, and nothing can keep you apart.

I received my cat as a companion for the harsh time I was going through. After 10 years of having a serious relation I was set aside like it all did not mean anything. I never thought the day would come, but it hit me like a ton of bricks. One of my good friends thought a cat might be the perfect solution to get the depression off my mind.

When we arrived at the animal shelter and I gazed at all the cats and kittens, my eyes rested on a white Cyprus mix. I asked to hold her. When she was placed in my hands she wrapped her paws around me like she was hugging me.

That moment I knew my friend was right... This was the cat I wanted. After a few short days of waiting, I brought SCSI home.

I prepared everything for her, sleeping basket, litter box and a nice place to eat. The sleeping basket was completely ignored, she found a suitable sleeping place in a old external SCSI “raid” hard drive housing. And for scratching her little nails she had complete other plans then my 1500 Baht Cat scratching device, her favorite seemed to be boxes of SCSI controllers. It did not take long before, nobody could remember her real name and even the cat itself responded better to the word SCSI then her original name.

The cat solution worked beautifully. SCSI and I became excellent companions as time went on. When I though about the brake-up, she was there to comfort me; she was a blessing to me.

SCSI became even more fascinating when I taught her tricks that made me laugh. It took a lot of practice, but SCSI was willing to learn. She would go to any length to make sure I was smiling. The first trick she learned was “sit.” Every time I saw that, I laughed until my stomach ached.

I loved teaching her tricks because they made me realize I had an intelligent cat, and the time I spent teaching her helped us bond. SCSI loved it because she knew the tricks made me happy and proud.

The next tricks SCSI learned was “shake.” She and I boned the most with this one because it took so long for her to master it. Things were great and I couldn't imagine anything would ever stop SCSI and me from being great friends.

Then it happened, SCSI became deathly ill. Her bladder wasn't functioning properly and the veterinarians said she might die. I did everything I could to keep her as healthy as possible. I gave her medication, talked to her and spent lots of time with her. I belief we visited every medical facility in Thailand, I was desperate, I even consulted with a few none veterinarian doctors. I feared for my beloved SCSI, but kept my hopes up.

The days passed and SCSI slowly recovered. Thankfully, she regained her health and it thriving today, SCSI and I still work on new tricks.
